Issued by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus this elegant and artistic rectangular silver coin pays tribute to the breed of horse raised in and named after the steppe Russian region situated on the bank of the river Don. The Russian Don horses originally were used as cavalry horses by the Cossacks, participating and assisting them in many battles and wars.

The obverse design of the proof silver coin shows relief of the state emblem of the Republic of Belarus, below is the central image of the coin’s obverse showing two gorgeous horses running at full gallop, symbolizing the dynamics, speed and strength. The obverse also bears the denomination, name of issuing country and the year of issue.

Featured on the foreground of the coin’s reverse is the relief image of the graceful Don horse, in the background there is artistic colour picture of the officer of the Don Cossacks’ army (in the period of 1812) showing off his skill in riding a Don horse.
