REVERSE
The reverse captures an original vintage poster of the famous Le Chat Noir. The image depicted on the coin is not altered, so it is a replica of the original poster. The Le Chat Noir is the #3 of 24 posters to be released in 2015.
About the Artwork: Le Chat Noir was a 19th century entertainment establishment in the bohemian Montmartre district of Paris. It is thought to be the first modern cabaret, a nightclub where visitors were being entertained by a variety show on stage. The poster was created by Théophile Steinlen in 1896.
About the Artist: Théophile Steinlen was a Swiss-born French Art Nouveau painter and printmaker. He started out by painting rural landscapes flowers. After he got introduced to the artistic crowd at the Le Chat Noir, he began creating posters and regular contributions for various magazines.
OBVERSE
The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year of issue and the denomination of the coin.
PACKAGING
