Gregory Peck (April 5, 1916 - June 12, 2003) ranked amongst the most popular Hollywood stars for a long time. Particularly his portrayals of a gentleman, personifying sincerity and dignity led to his worldwide fame.
One of his most popular films was “Roman Holiday“, in which Gregory Peck played a reporter, alongside the brilliant Audrey Hepburn, who forgoes his success story out of love for the princess. Many also know him from the film “Moby Dick“, in which he played the role of the fanatic Captain Ahab. After four Oscar nominations in the category “Best Leading Actor“
he topped off his extremely successful career by winning this Oscar in 1963. He received the Oscar for his part as the lawyer “Atticus Finch“ in the drama “To Kill a Mockingbird“.
Despite obscurity and lack of funds, Bruno Bernard (1912 - 1987) set up his first darkroom in the basement of his Hollywood apartment in 1940. Shortly thereafter, he moved his studio to the famous Sunset Strip. “No one knew the name Bernard, but they all knew Hollywood“, and hence the optical trademark signature Bernard of Hollywood, which ensured the image of glamour visually for decades, was created. Bruno Bernard was considered as the “King of Hollywood glamour” and Marilyn Monroe’s discoverer. In 1984 Bernard was the first photographer to be honoured with an Oscar at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
