Ingeniously packaged like a the collectible Transformers action figures, the Transformers coins are officially authorized by Hasbro! Color Note
Although the mint supplied images may make it appear the the Megatron silver proof is not colorized, in fact the coin is in full color. It just so happens that (appropriately enough) the evil Megatron is depicted mostly in shades of charcoal and black.
Investment Note
Unlike most modern movie collectibles, the two Transformers silver proofs (Megatron and Optimus Prime) have a strictly limited mintage of only 5,000 each. Considering that they come from one of the most successful Hollywood franchises of all time, with mass worldwide, popular appeal, with crossover to the highly sought-after film collecting community, we like the prospects for future appreciation.
Technology Note
The Perth Mint of Australia employs its own proprietary colorization technology, in which the color is actually sealed on the coin. The vibrant hues and precise execution of the technology create a stunning, full-color portrait on each coin.
Obverse
Megatron (depicted in full color), ruthless leader of the Decepticons, strikes a menacing pose above the Decepticons logo. The legend TRANSFORMERS denotes the theme. The Perth Mint's "P" mint mark also appears along the edge, at the 12:00 position.
Reverse
Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II of England, in crowned profile facing right. This portrait, featuring Her Majesty wearing a tiara and pearl drop earrings, was executed by the sculptor Raphael Maklouf. The legend QUEEN ELIZABETH II, the date of issue and denomination also appear.
