It was with the young collectors in mind that the Mint of Poland have designed an attractive coin, Year of the Snake, a piece making up the “Chinese Calendar” series. The coin has been struck using the highest quality mirror stamp, on a sterling silver planchet (Ag 925). The piece is legal tender in New Zealand.
A fairy-tale design and a fun packaging make it a great gift for children!
Collect all coins of the series – each year the Mint of Poland issues a coin showing one of the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac: Pig, Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Dog, Monkey, and Rooster.
Obverse:
In the central part of the coin the picture of HM Queen Elizabeth II. Underneath a semi-circular inscription: ELIZABETH II NIUE ISLAND. Under the portrait of the Queen – face value (1 Dollar) and the year of issue (2012). Under the picture of the Queen, to the right, the mint mark (m/w).
Reverse:
In the central part of the coin an image of a fairy-tale snake created using the pad printing technology. In the background – leaves and tree branches. To the left and towards the bottom of the coin – a Chinese hieroglyph denominating the snake. Next to it the following inscription: YEAR OF THE SNAKE 2013.
