Twelve Months
Apart from the fairy tales which are well-known around the world, the Fairy Tales series also presents national fairy tales with a universal message. The images on the coins are little gems which capture many symbols due to which the fairy tales are no more ordinary narratives but touch upon the world of magic.
Obverse:
The central part of the coin depicts a boy and a girl sitting on the moon and reading fairy tales with stars in the background. Above: the emblem of the Republic of Belarus and a semicircular inscription in Russian saying: “The Republic of Belarus”. In the lower part of the coin, along the rim - the face value of the coin in Belarusian – “twenty roubles”. Above - the year of issue: 2006.
Reverse:
In the central part of the coin there is a campfire with an inset of a red zircon in the middle by which twelve months sit as the fairy tale says. In the left-hand part of the coin - an image of a basket full of snowdrops which denote spring. Some flowers fall out of it, form a semicircle and turn from living flowers into floral patters which remind of those created by frost on a pane of glass, and then into a snowstorm and snowflakes falling over a wood in winter. At the bottom - a semicircular inscription in Belarusian saying: “Twelve Months”.
