Sea Moray Eel
The final coin from the first Sea Life series portrays a Moray Eel, which can be seen emerging from reef hideaways in tropical and temperate waters around Australia. Contrary to the impression given by its snake-like body, long sharp teeth and open-mouth, the Moray Eel is not an aggressive fish. Although capable of delivering a nasty bite if provoked, its mouth is generally open so that water can pass over its gills.
The coin’s reverse depicts a Moray Eel in colour. The design also incorporates The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark
