The upcoming year 2011 will be celebrating as Chinese Year of the Rabbit. On this occasion the Mint of Poland is releasing two silver collector coins in a limited mintage of 3,000 pcs.
The “Chinese Calendar” is a series of silver collector coins which every year presents one of 12 animals that in the following year will patronize the Chinese Zodiac: pig, rat, ox, tiger, rabbit,, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, dog, monkey, rooster.
The 12-year cycle repeats itself five times because each time the year of the given animal appears under the sign of another element: water, earth, wood, fire and metal. It is believed that the animal assigned by year and the element influence sociopolitical and economic events as well as character and skills of people born in the particular year.
According to the Chinese Zodiac, the year of the Rabbit begins February 3rd, 2011 and ends January 22nd, 2012.
