This innovative coin celebrates the famous work of sculptor Antonio Canova. "Psyche Revived by Cupid's Kiss" first commissioned in 1787 exemplifies the Neoclassical devotion to love and emotion. It represents the god Cupid in the height of love and tenderness, immediately after awakening the lifeless Psyche with a kiss. A masterpiece of its period, it appeals to the senses of sight and touch, yet simultaneously alludes to the Romantic interest in emotion co-existing with Neoclassicism. This is the first coin to be released in this series. The center of this Silver coin is removable and becomes a piece of art. Each coin comes encapsulated in a stunning white box and with a certificate of authenticity.
The reverse of the coin captures the famous sculpture Cupid & Psyche by Antonio Canova. The sculpture is placed on a separate silver coin, which can be taken out. At the top you will find the inscriptions Armor & Psyche, at the bottom: Antonio Canova.
The Ian Rank-Broadley likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination are shown on the obverse.
